We are thrilled to welcome Sarah Snyder back to BKF Engineers as an Engineering Manager in our Sacramento office. A proud alumna of California State University, Sacramento, Sarah’s professional journey is deeply intertwined with BKF, where she first began her career as an engineering intern in 2008.
During her early years at BKF, Sarah demonstrated remarkable tenacity and a hunger for learning. In the post-recession climate, staffing changes meant that Sarah was entrusted with additional responsibilities, gaining invaluable hands-on experience as part of Jim McCurdy’s team. Her drive and dedication quickly propelled her to the role of project engineer, where she made significant contributions to land development projects. Sarah also showcased her leadership skills as a project coordinator, balancing technical expertise with team collaboration.
After taking a break to focus on her family, Sarah’s passion for engineering was reignited during her own home remodel. This inspired her to delve into structural engineering for residential buildings. As sole proprietor of her consulting firm, and being self-taught in her structural engineering knowledge, she embraced a wide range of challenges, honing her skills under the guidance of a skilled mentor. Her experience managing residential structural scopes strengthened her ability to seamlessly integrate horizontal and vertical project elements, sharpened her technical proficiency, and deepened her coordination expertise with architects.
Seeking an environment where she could grow alongside a supportive team, Sarah reached out to Jim McCurdy to explore returning to BKF. Recognizing her talent and the value she brings, Jim enthusiastically welcomed her back to the Sacramento office. Sarah is now a vital part of our team, contributing her expertise to civil engineering projects while embracing the collaborative spirit of our “One BKF” culture. Sarah has expressed her appreciation for the positive evolution of BKF’s workplace culture, particularly the enhanced resources and support available to employees, creating an environment that supports professional growth, teamwork, and work-life balance. She values the camaraderie and energy within the Sacramento office and is excited about the opportunities ahead. Her sentiments align with our commitment to fostering a workplace where innovation thrives.

“We are thrilled to have Sarah back on our team in the Sacramento office and look forward to her continued success on current and future projects,” says Jim McCurdy, Principal / Vice President, and Sacramento BKF Regional Manager.
Please join us in giving Sarah Snyder a warm welcome back to BKF Engineers. We’re excited to see the incredible contributions she will make as we continue to grow and succeed together.
