BKF helps secure funding for the City of Sacramento from the EPA

In March 2022, the BKF Team played a crucial role in assisting the City of Sacramento to obtain a modest grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for at-risk communities. This initiative, known as the Sacramento Neighborhood Resilience Pilot Project, spearheaded by the City of Sacramento, concentrates on developing urban cooling and resilience strategies. These strategies are aimed at mitigating the impacts of the urban heat island effect and other extreme weather occurrences, particularly in vulnerable, low-income areas.

The project focuses on engaging the neighborhood in disaster preparedness and clean-up efforts. The activities funded by this $950,000 grant are anticipated to bring about significant improvements in both the environment and public health. The success of this project is especially meaningful as this community has historically suffered from disproportionate environmental challenges, making this achievement a notable testament to the efforts of our team.
