Women of BKF | Melinda Thomas

Melinda has 11 years of civil engineering experience and she joined BKF’s Walnut Creek office 5 years ago. Her work over the past few years has mainly included mixed use, commercial, K-12 education, and residential projects. She is her office’s “go-to” for any San Francisco projects which involve stormwater compliance or Department of Public Works requirements. She says the positive synergy amongst her team members makes coming to work enjoyable; they get along well and work hard together. Another perk of the job is that it provides the right amount of challenge for Melinda, and keeps each day interesting and new. This past year she served as a co-leader for BKF’s newly-formed Multicultural Employee Resource Group, which aims to facilitate and promote staff diversity, supplier diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in the work and services performed by BKF.

With a strong core group of best friends who mostly originate since elementary school, Melinda enjoys watching the Warriors, going out dancing, traveling, and attending food festivals. She is especially grateful for her girlfriend, Katie, and her good health.
