As featured in the recent DJC Oregon article, this initiative is set to revitalize beloved Third Street, a historic downtown that has long served as the heart of the community; offering a vibrant hub for downtown restaurants, businesses, and events. BKF was selected for their experience implementing innovative and equitable infrastructure, and access improvements to many downtown and historic districts throughout the West Coast.

While Third Street has played a crucial role in bringing the community together and hosting a variety of memorable experiences, the passage of time has taken its toll on the area’s infrastructure. Recognizing the need for significant improvements to preserve the charm and vitality of this cherished locale for future generations, BKF has been entrusted with the task of spearheading its rejuvenation.

Joining the team is SERA Architects providing urban design and public outreach services, as well as The Pacific Resources Group serving as consulting arborist. The team assisted the City in the successful completion of the Visioning and Preferred Concept Design for Third Street, while gaining a deep understanding of the project. They are uniquely invested in the successful outcome of the project and maintaining the community’s ability to enjoy their world-class downtown throughout construction process. Also joining the team are Haley & Aldrich, geotechnical and environmental, Civilis Consultants, business resiliency, and Kittelson & Associates, Inc., traffic engineering.

Streetscape projects are of paramount importance acting  as catalysts for enhancing the overall quality of urban life. BKF has extensive experience working on streetscape projects in order to make them more walkable, fostering healthier and more active lifestyles, all while  reducing traffic congestion and pollution. Streetscape projects are an investment in the future of a community, ensuring that it  remains vibrant, inclusive, and resilient for generations to come. BKF will lead the project through engineering assessment, partial design, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and business resiliency.
