The City of Redwood City has selected BKF Engineers to perform the design and prepare the plans, specifications, and cost estimates for the 2025-2026 Sanitary Sewer Capacity Improvement Project. The Project consists of three (3) locations with model-predicted overflowing and surcharging pipes, totaling approximately 6,000 linear feet of pipeline replacement, with a possibility of including an additional 1,200 linear feet to the Project scope. The Project involves upsizing the City’s existing 8 to 27-inch diameter vitrified clay pipes (VCP) with new 12 to 36-inch diameter pipes, and will also include replacing and/or rehabilitating manholes and lateral connections as necessary. The project sites are relatively narrow residential and commercial streets with existing utility congestion, and BKF has proposed several options to meet the City’s needs and overcome foreseeable obstacles.
