BKF served as the civil engineer for the University of San Francisco’s new LEED Gold academic building, a five‑story facility designed to strengthen scientific preparation for all undergraduates while fostering deeper connections between the sciences and the environment. The project included full civil engineering design for sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and both domestic and fire water systems to support the building’s academic and research functions.
As part of the sustainable design strategy, BKF developed an innovative stormwater detention and rainwater harvesting system that reduces potable water demand and improves on‑site water management. The result is a high‑performance academic building that advances the university’s commitment to environmental stewardship while providing state‑of‑the‑art learning spaces for students and faculty.
