Overview

BKF was part of a design‑build team that delivered the full civil engineering scope for the replacement of Webster Hall with a new ground‑up student housing facility, Yosemite Hall. The project included complete demolition of the existing building, removal of all associated site utilities, and the design of comprehensive site improvements to support the new residence hall. BKF also coordinated permitting with the City of Davis for new utility service connections and for the reconstruction of a public Class I bicycle trail adjacent to the site.

The Yosemite Hall development consisted of a 101,000‑square‑foot, four‑story building providing 371 student beds. Work required careful planning to manage construction activities between an active residence hall and a fully operating dining commons. BKF evaluated innovative solutions to meet post‑construction stormwater management requirements, resulting in a final design incorporating pervious pavers in parking areas, Silva Cells, and subsurface retention chambers. The project obtained LEED Gold certification, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental performance and sustainable campus growth.
