Overview

David Blackwell Hall is an undergraduate residence hall located in the largely residential Southside neighborhood located to the south of the UCB Central Campus. The seven-story, 184,000 sq. ft. mixed-use project combines urban planning principles, innovative sustainable systems, and campus design sensibilities to create a unique addition to both the UCB campus and the South Berkeley community. The building provides incoming freshmen with state-of-the-art residential accommodations, as well as retail space located on the ground floor. As part of a design-build-maintain project, BKF led the civil engineering efforts, which included: new domestic water, fire water, wastewater, storm drainage, stormwater treatment facilities, ADA compliance, grading, and drainage.

  • 186,000 sq. ft.
  • Approximately 751 beds (19 singles and 732 doubles)
  • Lounges and study rooms available on each floor
