Overview

The American Conservatory Theater (ACT) purchased the 100-year-old abandoned movie theater to redevelop it into a 2-story, 285 seat theater in a highly visible, vibrant downtown area of Market Street in San Francisco. BKF engineers was a key part of the design-bid-build process. BKF designed the utilities related to the site including, water, sewer, storm and electrical. BKF helped coordinate street improvement plans with the Department of Public Works and the San Francisco Water Department. BKF worked with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) to relocate the bus shelter, and with PG&E to help feed the exterior electrical system into the building.
