In 2018, SFPUC approved the Biosolids Digester Facilities Project (BDFP), which will replace and relocate the outdated existing facilities with more reliable, efficient, and modern technologies and facilities that will help transform the plant into a modern resource recovery facility. The project will locate new digesters farther away from existing residences, reduce odors, and make visual improvements in and around the plant. BKF is providing QSP services to assist the contractor with compliance with the intent of the requirements of the State of California Water Resource’s Control Board’s Construction General Permit. The BDFP is part of SFPUC’s first phase of their $2.9B Sewer System Improvement Program, which is comprised of 70 projects all over the City.
