San Francisco, General Services Administration, Federal Building

The San Francisco Federal GSA Building, completed in 2007, emphasizes several sustainable concepts: windows that open to a fresh air view and natural daylight; a fully-accessible power and telecommunications system; and a series of shared spaces throughout the building that promote interaction both between and within the tenant agencies. Emphasizing openness, free flow of fresh air, and natural daylight, open workstations will be located at the building perimeter and glass-walled, private offices at the building core. Other amenities include daycare, fitness centers, cafeterias, a 250-seat auditorium, and indoor parking.

BKF is responsible for the civil engineering design of site improvements for this new 673,000 s.f. federal building at 7th and Mission Streets. The project is LEED Silver certified. GSA won recognition for sustainable design from CoreNet Global in the category of “Public Sector and Government.”
