San Fran Bay Trail at Lone Tree Point

Overview

BKF provided design, geotechnical investigation, environmental documentation, project permitting, and construction administration services for this new half-mile long San Francisco Bay Trail Extension along the East Bay Regional Park District’s San Pablo Bay Regional Shoreline in Rodeo, CA. Officially opened in 2021, the project includes a paved spur trail connecting to the existing Lone Tree Point staging area. The design features a pedestrian bridge over a seasonal wetland, installation of three culverts to provide drainage around the paved trail, repaving of an approximately 400-foot-long separate spur trail providing access to the San Pablo Bay shoreline, a staging area, and public restrooms. Working with the District, Contra Costa County, and project stakeholders, our team defined factors necessary to evaluate trail alternatives and prepared final plans, specifications, and estimates for the project, while assisting the District with construction administration.
