The 0.6‑mile Ravenswood Bay Trail Connection Project closed a critical gap in the San Francisco Bay Trail, creating an uninterrupted 80‑mile recreation and commute corridor spanning San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties. BKF played a key role in advancing the project by clarifying property ownership with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, evaluating stormwater runoff considerations, and preparing detailed trail design plans. BKF also provided survey services, including a plat and legal description for a new easement and staking of limits and alignments to support planning and design development.
The completed trail segment features an easy‑access paved pathway supported by a bridge and raised boardwalk that weave through environmentally sensitive habitat areas. The project required extensive coordination among multiple jurisdictions and careful planning around overhead and underground utilities to ensure safe, sustainable, and resilient connections for both recreational users and commuters.
