BKF delivered South San Francisco’s first green bike lanes along Oyster Point Boulevard, improving safety, visibility, and commuting conditions for cyclists traveling between Gateway and Marina Boulevard. The project supports the City’s goal of reducing single‑occupancy vehicle trips by encouraging bicycling as a healthier, more sustainable transportation option. By enhancing rider comfort and confidence, the improvements help reduce congestion, lower air pollution, and promote overall wellbeing for commuters.
BKF’s innovative, sustainable design approach enabled the City to incorporate more improvements than originally planned, all while maintaining cost efficiency. The project reconstructed approximately 6,000 linear feet of bike lanes and introduced specialized intersection treatments that increase clarity and safety for all users. The result is a long‑term, high‑quality mobility solution that strengthens multimodal connections throughout the corridor.
