BKF provided preliminary civil engineering and land surveying services for the OneLegacy Transplant Donor Recovery Center in Azusa, California—the largest facility of its kind in the nation. The project involved a 45,000‑square‑foot addition to an existing industrial building, creating a 90,000‑square‑foot medical campus that includes specialized medical offices, laboratory spaces, seven intensive donation care unit beds, seven operating rooms, full diagnostic imaging, and therapy areas for donor families. The expansion also introduced a new conference center and a rooftop helipad designed specifically to support donor transport operations, along with a detached multi‑story parking structure.
BKF’s scope included off‑site street improvements and water‑main extensions, as well as on‑site infrastructure such as underground water‑quality infiltration basins. Surveying services encompassed survey control, boundary work, aerial and supplemental topography, plats and legal descriptions, right‑of‑way dedication, construction staking, and preparation of as‑built documentation. These integrated services supported the delivery of a highly specialized medical facility that enhances OneLegacy’s mission and operational capabilities.
