BKF Engineers provided civil engineering services for the new 127,000-square-foot Mt. San Antonio College Student Center. Centrally located on campus, the new three-level facility replaces outdated buildings with a vibrant, welcoming hub designed to enhance student life. Serving as a living room, dining room, and family room for the college community, the center offers spaces where students can study, relax, dine, and connect with one another in a comfortable and inclusive environment.
The Student Center features a wide range of student-focused amenities, including a convenience store, multicultural center, student club kitchen, and updated meeting space for the Associated Students. A variety of study areas support both individual and group learning, while event and conference rooms on all three floors provide flexible space for campus activities, meetings, and gatherings. The design encourages engagement, collaboration, and a strong sense of community.
BKF’s civil engineering scope included the design of a hillside grading plan to accommodate dual-level entries, along with strategic utility coordination for sewer, water, fire service, and storm drain systems. Additional elements included an underground stormwater treatment vault beneath the new plaza and a truck dock designed to meet precise geometric constraints. BKF also supported coordination efforts with the adjacent Miracle Mile Walkway and planned Campus Store Plaza, helping ensure a seamless integration into the broader campus infrastructure.
