Mineta San Jose International Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility (ARFF)

The new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility is located at the southwest end of the airfield at the Norman Y Mineta San Jose International Airport. The 16,000 sq. ft. facility includes 5 apparatus bays that house the airport’s 4 ARFF vehicles, with one additional bay dedicated to vehicle maintenance. BKF provided the civil site work associated with the project and was also responsible for modifying the existing traffic signal at the Newall and Coleman intersection.

The opening of the facility was marked with remarks from several members of the client team, including:

“This new facility reflects a true collaboration between dedicated City staff from many different Departments such as the Airport, Public Works, Fire and Budget,”said Director of Public Works Matt Cano.“In a much appreciated partnership with Overaa Construction, our City team was able to build a facility that will support both the Airport and the community.”
