The Town of Ross partnered with BKF Engineers to deliver the Laurel Grove Safe Pathways to School II project, creating a continuous pedestrian route that improves safety for students and enhances neighborhood connectivity. BKF designed a four‑foot‑wide, 1,600‑foot‑long pathway along Laurel Grove, linking Canyon Road to the Marin Art and Garden Center and establishing the only pedestrian connection between nearby residences and key community destinations along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
The project required street widening and repaving, lane realignment, grading and excavation of encroaching slopes, construction of retaining walls, updated drainage systems, and new signage. BKF also led the review of existing conditions, supported public outreach, developed design alternatives, prepared full construction documents and bid packages, and provided design support during construction. The completed pathway has become a valued community asset, and the Town of Ross has continued its partnership with BKF to design the next phase of improvements, extending safe access to even more residents.
