Overview

BKF provided civil engineering design services for the renovation of the KQED headquarters in San Francisco. Upon completion, the redesigned 165,000‑square‑foot facility accommodated the station’s growing staff and the expansion of services offered to its audiences. The renovation featured new community spaces, including a roof terrace, entry lobby, board room, multi‑purpose room, and updated program and production areas. It also incorporated 38 meeting and phone rooms, an enhanced indoor environment with improved lighting, thermal comfort, and air quality, and biophilic design elements that created a more inviting and healthy workplace.
