John Muir Health Behring Pavilion Outpatient Specialty Center

BKF provided civil engineering and surveying services for a new 200,000 sq. ft. Outpatient Center (OPC) located on the existing hospital campus at 175 La Casa Via, a new employee parking lot (500 spaces) located at 230 La Casa Via, and reconfiguring the existing parking lot at 205 La Casa Via for patient parking.

Construction has completed on the John Muir Health Outpatient Specialty Center (Behring Pavilion) in Walnut Creek. The Center focuses on Radiation Oncology, Multidisciplinary Cancer Programs, Breast Surgical Services, Outpatient Infusion services, lab services, and clinical cancer research.

The completion of this facility concludes a multiphase project that was started in 2018 and included, a new 500 space employee parking facility, East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) trail relocation, 1,500 feet of 21KV duct bank, Central Contra Costa County Sanitary Sewer District (CCCSD) Mainline Relocation, East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) mainline replacement, City of Walnut Creek storm drain main relocation, Emergency Power Fuel Tank, campus wide utility locating and mapping, and Outpatient Specialty Center.

BKF worked with project architect and lead SmithGroup, to design the new, state of the art, Outpatient Specialty Center within John Muir’s Campus Headquarters located at 1601 Ygnacio Valley Road. Construction services were headed by Swinerton, who provided both design input and construction services from project inception. Project completed both on time and on budget, meeting John Muir Health target goals.

The completed building is certified LEED Gold and received Best Health Care Project for 2024, awarded by Engineering News-Record, CA.
