BKF provided civil engineering design services for a key intersection improvement project in the City of Irvine, aimed at enhancing traffic operations and increasing overall roadway capacity. The upgrades included the addition of a fifth northbound through lane, a new right‑turn pocket serving an industrial complex in the northeast quadrant, and refinements to existing eastbound left‑turn movements. The project also required new right‑of‑way acquisitions, utility relocations, and traffic‑signal modifications along the east side of the intersection.
Throughout the development of the construction documents, BKF analyzed staging strategies and traffic‑handling concepts to maintain intersection level of service while ensuring the contractor had efficient, well‑defined work areas. BKF facilitated and coordinated site and public meetings, developed staging and traffic‑handling plans, designed and supported the installation of a stormwater‑treatment system, and implemented necessary traffic‑signal modifications to support safe and efficient operations.
