The Ed Roberts Campus is an 80,000-square- foot facility built for a group of nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing services, support, training, and advocacy for people with disabilities. BKF’s role on this project was to provide full civil site design services for the campus, the adjacent parking lot on the Bart station property, frontage improvements on Adeline Street above the Bart station structure, as well as connections between these facilities and the public right of way. The client’s goal was to go beyond baseline ADA requirements to provide campus-wide accessibility. BKF provided site design for the two-story office building and renovated parking lot for non-profit agencies supporting disability rights. As part of the design, a new 187-stall parking lot was constructed with pedestrian sidewalks and ramps, new storm drain, stormwater treatment units, sanitary sewer, and water utilities. BKF also provided site design for the two-story office building and renovated parking lot for non-profit agencies supporting disability rights, three public frontages reconstructed to include ADA-compliant curb ramps and drop-off areas, and offsite improvements inside Ashby BART station property.
