BKF Engineers provided comprehensive civil engineering and land surveying services for the redevelopment of existing buildings at 2901 Coronado Drive, supporting the expansion of CoreSite’s SV3 campus in Santa Clara. As part of CoreSite’s larger Silicon Valley network, comprising nine facilities and over 775,000 square feet of colocation space, the SV3 site is designed to support hybrid and multi-cloud solutions with low-latency access to network, cloud, and enterprise communities.
BKF led the transformation of the site into a high-performance data center facility aligned with CoreSite’s operational and sustainability goals. The redevelopment included the integration of new utility systems, such as underground fuel storage tanks, electric line routing, and reclaimed water service. BKF’s utility infrastructure design was tailored to meet the demands of high-density IT operations, incorporating robust fire protection, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems. Our team worked closely with utility providers and project stakeholders to ensure seamless service integration and long-term reliability.
Environmental and permitting support included engineering assistance for approvals and the preparation of Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and Construction Administration (CA). BKF also delivered detailed surveying and mapping services to support site planning, infrastructure coordination, and legal documentation.
Throughout the entitlement process, BKF engaged with City Planning and Engineering staff to facilitate timely approvals and ensure regulatory compliance. Circulation and access planning included analysis of pedestrian and vehicular movement to optimize site functionality and safety.
To meet regional water quality standards, BKF conducted C.3 stormwater analysis and designed sustainable drainage features, including rain gardens and best management practices for runoff control. These measures were integrated into the site design to support long-term environmental performance and compliance with the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).
This project exemplifies BKF’s expertise in delivering complex, high-performance data center infrastructure in collaboration with leading technology clients and municipal agencies, helping to advance Silicon Valley’s digital backbone.
