Chilco Street Multi-Modal & Green Infrastructure Improvements

The completed Chilco Street Improvements enhances traffic operations and safety along the heavily used corridor in Menlo Park for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorists. The design includes the addition of two signalized, protected intersections at Constitution Drive and the Facebook campus entrance, designed per NACTO guidelines. The project also includes 6,000 linear feet of protected Class IV Cycle Track and sidewalk to serve each direction of travel. To accommodate the high volume of large commuter buses traveling to and from the Facebook campus, the design also widened the existing street. BKF provided civil engineering design, construction support, and construction staking services for the project, including geometric design, truck/bus turning analysis, site grading and drainage improvements, stormwater treatment, utility relocation design, signage and striping, construction staging/traffic handling, and traffic signal design.
