BKF provided civil engineering services for the Charcot Avenue Extension, a long‑planned roadway improvement first added to the City of San José’s transportation network in the 1994 San José 2020 General Plan. The extension is designed to create a safe, multi‑modal connection that improves east–west mobility across the I‑880 corridor. The project enhances access between residential neighborhoods east of the freeway and the North San José commercial district to the west, increasing roadway capacity while delivering dedicated facilities for bicycles and pedestrians. By supporting a new overcrossing of I‑880, the extension strengthens regional connectivity and provides a safer, more efficient route for all travelers.
