BKF supported the transformation of a 65‑acre Port of Oakland parcel into a vibrant mixed‑use waterfront district featuring residential, retail, commercial, and public open‑space amenities. As part of the due‑diligence, master planning, and entitlement process, BKF helped establish the framework for a sustainable urban community along the Oakland Estuary, planned to include 3,100 residential units and 200,000 square feet of commercial and retail space. The redevelopment also dedicates 30 acres of the 1.2‑mile waterfront to parks, restored wetland areas, trails, and bike and pedestrian paths, creating a connected and publicly accessible shoreline environment.
BKF’s work included reviewing existing lease arrangements and evaluating historic structures, as well as coordinating environmental processing with the Department of Toxic Substances Control. These efforts supported a comprehensive master plan that addresses infrastructure needs, environmental considerations, and long‑term development goals for one of Oakland’s most significant waterfront revitalization projects.
