The drainage area tributary to the Bayfront Canal includes several low-lying areas that frequently experience flooding, even during relatively small, less than 5-year return period storm events. BKF modeled the existing system, determined the extent of inundation, and then developed improvement alternatives to alleviate regional flooding during a 25-year storm event.
- HEC-HMS Model for the 9.5 square mile tributary drainage area
- Tidal time-series developed from peak tide values were used as boundary
conditions - Identified overtopping locations
- Presented city with alternatives for correcting flooding
