BKF provided civil engineering services to support flood‑mitigation improvements for the Bayfront Canal drainage area, where low‑lying neighborhoods experience frequent flooding even during relatively small storm events. BKF analyzed existing conditions using a HEC‑HMS model covering the full 9.5‑square‑mile tributary watershed and incorporated tidal time‑series data derived from peak tide values to define accurate boundary conditions. Through this analysis, the team identified key overtopping locations and developed a range of improvement alternatives designed to reduce regional flooding during a 25‑year storm event. BKF presented these solutions to the City, providing a clear path toward long‑term, resilient flood‑management strategies.
