We are pleased to announce that the California State Coastal Conservancy has selected our team for the Pedro Point Headlands Coastal Trail Design and Plans—a pivotal project focused on closing one of the most significant gaps in the California Coastal Trail. This initiative is more than trail construction; it is an opportunity to deliver a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sensitive solution that reflects the Conservancy’s long‑term vision.
Our full‑service team will provide comprehensive engineering, landscape architectural, and environmental services for the Pedro Point Headlands segment. We will lead detailed trail planning, environmental review, and permit applications that shape the next phase of improvements. This effort builds on the prior planning work completed in 2020, advancing a cohesive and resource‑sensitive trail experience that supports the SCC’s stewardship goals for the California Coastal Trail.
Our team brings comprehensive experience to this work. Having led the engineering for the adjacent Devils Slide Trail, we are familiar with the terrain, environmental constraints, and coastal conditions unique to this region. This experience equips us to craft a trail design that preserves the natural beauty of the headlands while meeting goals of sustainability, safety, and quality user experience. The project is led by Project Manager Jason Mansfield and Principal-in-Charge Dan Schaefer, supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, and specialists with knowledge of the Pedro Point area. We’ve also assembled a trusted subconsultant team, including firms with prior experience working with the client, providing continuity and collaboration.
Our approach centers on Engage to Advance, actively participating, connecting, and committing to create momentum for progress. Through a collaborative and adaptive strategy, we build on a strong foundation of community involvement, clarity of expectations, and productive engagement. This philosophy guided our successful selection and continues to shape our work.
From trail planning to environmental stewardship, our goal is to deliver a design that balances recreation, safety, and sustainability. By integrating engineering innovation with community priorities, we aim to create a trail that enhances public access while protecting the fragile coastal ecosystem.
Stay tuned for updates as we transform Pedro Point Headlands into a vital link in the California Coastal Trail, an achievement that reflects collaboration, creativity, and commitment to the environment.
