BKF Engineers is proud to announce its selection by the City of Lathrop to lead a critical water infrastructure upgrade project. With a focus on enhancing community safety and water reliability, BKF Engineers will manage the comprehensive design and implementation of the Water Main and Lateral Upgrades project.

The project addresses the pressing need to relocate and upgrade a 50-year-old transite pipe network mostly situated on private property within a residential neighborhood. Spanning approximately 5,600 feet, the project will see the replacement of aging infrastructure across several streets, including Aztec Lane, Bizzibe Street, Julie Lane, Mingo Way, Noel Lane, Somoa Lane, and Warfield Road.

Key features of the project include the installation of an 8-inch PVC water main within the street right of way, with careful consideration given to minimizing disruptions to the local community. Additionally, the project will address challenges posed by the coexistence of sanitary sewer mains and storm drains along certain streets, ensuring compliance with Department of Drinking Water (DDW) separation requirements.

BKF Engineers brings a wealth of experience to the project, having completed the design for over 50 miles of water pipelines ranging from 8-inch to 24-inch in diameter.

Additionally, BKF has assisted numerous municipalities and water districts with annual water main replacements, capacity improvements, and enhancing system reliability and redundancy.

The scope of services provided by BKF Engineers includes the preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E), bidding assistance, and engineering support services during construction.
