Born in Vietnam, Phong relocated to San Jose at the age of eight and has called it home ever since. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Water Resources at San Jose State, embarking on a journey that initially included childhood dreams of artistry, computer programming, and later industrial design. This evolution into civil engineering during college seamlessly merged his varied interests.

Joining BKF in 2011, Phong has become an integral part of the team, specializing in a broad spectrum of residential projects, from high-end single-family homes to large mixed-use developments and multifamily residences. One of his early favorites at BKF is the Montecito Vista Urban Village project, situated close to his home, which adds a personal touch to his portfolio.

Outside of work, Phong is a passionate traveler, enjoying international adventures and engaging in activities like hiking, trail running, and team sports such as basketball, tennis, and golf. As an introvert who finds joy in social gatherings during sporting events, he also appreciates the simple pleasure of watching a good movie at home.

Phong’s inspiration is rooted in self-motivation and a desire to excel both professionally and personally. He expresses, “As cliche as this might be, I hope to do my part and leave this world in a better place than when I was here. This may include working on more affordable residential projects or helping create communities with sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructures for future generations.”
