Peter Wijsman leads BKF’s Water Resources Business Sector, bringing experience in water infrastructure, urban resilience, and sustainable development. His career began in the Netherlands and took shape in the U.S. following Hurricane Katrina, where he applied Dutch flood protection expertise to national recovery efforts. He has since led complex infrastructure projects across the US of which many are in California.

Peter holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Planning from Inholland University Delft and a master’s in International Land and Water Management from Wageningen University, with research completed in partnership with UC Davis. Prior to joining BKF, he held regional leadership roles at a global engineering firm, focusing on strategy, client development, and team growth.

Known for his collaborative leadership style and people-first approach to solving complex challenges, Peter aligns technical teams with client needs to deliver impactful outcomes. He’s an active community member and serves on boards and committees of several urban planning, environmental, and economic development non-profit organizations. Based in the Bay Area, he enjoys spending time with family, coaching soccer, and mountain biking year-round.
