A United States Marine for almost 10 years, David has lived in Japan, Korea, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia and has visited 20+ countries and five continents. He was born and raised on a property in Springfield, Virginia which was previously owned by President Washington and worked at a gas station on land that was once owned by General Robert E. Lee.

David has worked in civilian land surveying since 1996 and says the experiences he had prior to joining BKF groomed and shaped him for future management. He started working in BKF’s Redwood City Office in 2015, but feels “like I should have been here a long time ago.” The staff has grown in great numbers under his tutelage over the past few years and he appreciates the reputation he has gained of having high expectations for team members to work hard and produce a great product. “I expect them to do whatever it takes to get the job done, but I also appreciate that I have great relationships with all.” He praises his staff for being bright, quick, and sharp; all which have contributed to his team’s success.

Along with the camaraderie he shares with his fellow surveyors, David also attributes his positive work experience at BKF to connection and communication with the firm’s leaders, who constantly enforce an open door policy and are always available to have conversations about work, family, or even Marvel movies. “It’s refreshing to have dialog with upper management, who truly care about me and my staff, but also my family. It’s not always just about the work.”

At a younger age, David enjoyed wrestling, boxing, and jujitsu, but an injury during a sparring session sidelined his participation and now he is happy to just sit back and watch those and other fight sports on Pay Per View with his three adult children and other family members and friends. An avid car fan, he can often be found breaking the speed limit on Sundays in his red Porsche Cayman with his wife at his side, seeking out a new coffee shop, or playing with his dogs.
