Born in Hawaii and raised in Pleasant Hill, California, Alyssa Jacobson developed an early interest in mathematics, science, and music, playing the violin for over a decade. In high school, she took an impactful environmental science class which inspired her to follow a path toward civil and environmental engineering. “I realized that the best way to make a difference in the world was to contribute creative solutions to complex problems, and hopefully, be a part of making the world a better place,“ says Alyssa.
She pursued her education at the University of California, Davis, where she earned a degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Green Design and Sustainability.
Since joining BKF in 2015, Alyssa has embraced BKF’s collaborative culture, valuing the synergy between clients and project teams on a diverse array of projects. Throughout her career at BKF, Alyssa has contributed to notable projects such as the Google Bay View Campus at Moffett Field and Kylli Mission Point in Santa Clara. Beyond her project work, she has been an active leader within BKF’s Women of BKF Employee Resource Group, spearheading events and initiatives such as BKF’s International Women in Engineering Day events. “I want to be a role model for others in the industry, and more specifically for women in the industry, continuing my work in encouraging women to stay in and enter the industry,” she says.
An avid traveler, Alyssa thrives on exploring diverse cultures and meeting people from around the globe. With aspirations to visit all seven continents and wonders of the world, she blends her love for exploration with her commitment to making a positive impact on her work and personal life.
