BKF Engineers is an inclusive employer that celebrates the vitality and unity of a diverse team. Our firm recognizes that our continued success and growth is dependent on a clear strategy to achieve workforce equity at all levels of the firm. Diversity, equity, and inclusion drive creativity, innovation, and achievement and we promote these principles in our work and in our communities. Guided by its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council with multiple Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), BKF is active in identifying activities and initiatives that promote and actively enhance our workforce capabilities.
The Council and ERGs have the following objectives:
BKF collaborates with organizations that recognize and support women and underrepresented groups in civil engineering and land surveying, including the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, Mexican American Engineers and Scientists, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. Through attending special events, leading presentations, and providing sponsorships and scholarships, BKF advocates for and promotes organizations that strengthen the inclusivity and diversity of the AEC industry and the communities we serve. The unique yet holistic perspective of our multifaceted team reflects our outreach through career fairs at universities with high diversity indices and partnership with Circa (formerly Local Job Network), a software-as-a- service system of connected job recruiting sites that specifically focuses on creating equity in the workforce.
Diversity is not only a fundamental component of our workforce; it is also the foundation of the industry partnerships that create successful and dynamic projects. BKF has developed a network of well-qualified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) sub consultants and vendors that we work with across multiple sectors, clients, and communities. Over the years, we have sub-contracted and procured millions of dollars in services from DBE firms, service providers, and suppliers. BKF continually seeks new opportunities to promote these industry partnerships in a way that provides effective and efficient design solutions.
BKF Engineers future success and continued growth requires a clear strategy to achieve workforce diversity at all levels of the firm. Our leadership and staff are proud to celebrate diversity and a culture of inclusion that values equity.
BKF Engineers hereby certifies that its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program is designed and implemented in full compliance with all applicable federal anti-discrimination laws. Our DEI initiatives focus on fostering an inclusive workplace culture so that employees are empowered to maximize their contributions to our practice, supporting employee resource groups, and collaborating with professional organizations to promote talent from a diverse background within the engineering profession. BKF affirms that this program does not involve any unlawful preferences or discriminatory practices based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, or national origin.
