Overview

Built at Carondelet High School in Concord, California, the two‑story, 18,000‑square‑foot Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation provided a flexible space designed to maximize interaction among students. The structure included pedestrian bridges on the north and south sides that connected the facility to existing campus buildings. Inside, the building featured eight studio classrooms with operable partitions that allowed the rooms to adjust in size and connect to one another. Additional amenities included a central atrium with a café and a 24‑by‑14‑foot interactive video wall.

To meet stormwater management requirements, three bioretention facilities were constructed on site. BKF provided complete civil engineering design and surveying services, supporting the team in integrating the new building into the campus while accommodating existing infrastructure and site constraints.
