BKF is supporting the City of Yucaipa in the replacement of the Live Oak Canyon low-water crossing bridge located southwest of the intersection of US Hwy 10 and Live Oak Canyon Road. BKF is providing wetland delineations of Oak Glen Creek tributaries, input on a wildlife crossing design, and protocol surveys for several special-status species including rare plants, burrowing owl, bats, Least Bell’s vireo, and the Crotch’s bumble bee. Notably, BKF biologist Callie Amoaku is a leader in the state on special-status bumble bees and holds a CDFW CESA collection permit for this species and USFWS 10a Survey Permits for two other special-status insects – Quino checkerspot butterfly and Casey’s June Beetle.
