Oakland, CA —After serving as BKF’s President and CEO since 2019, Greg Hurd has announced his intent, effective June 1, 2026, to transition into the role of Executive Advisor and Board Member. Having served the firm for more than 40 years, Greg will remain actively engaged at the governance level, supporting Darren K. Riegler, the Leadership Team, and the Board. This planned transition formally appoints Darren as BKF’s sixth President and CEO.
“Greg has led BKF to where it is today, transforming the organization into a model poised for growth,” said Michael Carroll, Chairman of the Board of BKF. “Working closely with Darren for the past 3 years, I have observed firsthand his outstanding leadership and keen ability to scale an organization. I am confident that Darren’s experience in creating synergies across markets and services will guide us into our next phase.”
A proven leader, Darren, was CEO of MNS Engineers for more than three years, during which time he doubled the annual revenue of the company. His focus on operational excellence, client-centric solutions, talent development and recruiting, and fostering a positive employee culture are cited for this banner performance.
“Selecting Darren, a recognized leader in the AEC industry, ensures continuity in leadership for BKF,” said Ira Starr, Founding Partner of Long Point Capital. “While the transition will formally occur in June, the clarity and transparency around Darren’s role as President and CEO is especially valuable as BKF engages in acquisition discussions. Prospective partner firms and their teams benefit from knowing who will be leading the organization going forward.”
“This is a forward‑looking transition, and it reflects my deep appreciation for all that we have built,” said Greg. “As planned, I remain fully committed to working with Darren, the Leadership Team, and the Board. BKF has a rich 110-plus-year history, and with our strategy and leadership in place, BKF is well prepared for its next chapter.”
“This is an exciting moment for BKF,” said Darren “It is an honor to serve as President and CEO as we launch our firm with more than 800 employees across the Western United States. With a focus on our clients, our people, and strategic growth, we are positioning BKF to become the premier firm in the Western United States.”
