BKF Celebrates Water Week 2026: Engineering and Delivering Resilient Water Systems
Celebrating Water Week 2026, BKF is committed to water conservation and stronger communities and are helping to shape long-term, sustainable systems across the Western United States. These range from critical infrastructure upgrades like the Springfield Water System Consolidation Project, which delivers safe, reliable drinking water to underserved communities to large-scale planning efforts like the Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island Project where BKF provided full services on various infrastructure projects on the island.
Other current projects such as the City of Inglewood Utilities Design program and the South Orange County Wastewater Authority Effluent Transmission Replacement project are improving system reliability and reducing risk, while the City of Richmond Keller Beach Feasibility Study project advances resilient, environmentally balanced shoreline solutions.
Adam Brown, Water Resources Regional Lead, shares that these efforts are about “finding balanced, sustainable solutions that protect sensitive environments while addressing aging infrastructure, sea level rise, and long-term operational impacts.”
Our CM Water teams are delivering these solutions in the field, providing oversight so that projects are built safely, efficiently, and with lasting impact. From the City of Gonzales Industrial Wastewater Conveyance and Reclamation Facility Project to the South San Luis Obispo Sanitation District WWTP Redundancy Project and the Pajaro Dunes Seawall Repair Project, these efforts demonstrate a commitment to execution and resilience. These initiatives highlight the critical role construction management plays in fortifying the water infrastructure that thousands of people in our communities rely on every day.
Nancy Baker, BKF Senior Project Manager, notes that “proactively replacing aging infrastructure is essential to strengthening system reliability, protecting coastal resources, and ensuring safe, dependable service for the communities that rely on it.”
Our BKF team and projects embody the core themes of Water Week: protecting communities, safeguarding the environment, and investing in sustainable water solutions that will serve California for generations to come.
