Overview

BKF provided civil engineering services for the AIA award‑winning Student Recreation Center at California State University, Northridge. This LEED Gold‑certified facility spans 130,000 square feet across the 356‑acre campus and features a wide range of recreational amenities, including weight‑training areas, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and an elevated jogging track. BKF’s design contribution supported the project’s strong sustainability goals through the incorporation of low‑flow plumbing fixtures, water‑efficient landscaping, rainwater harvesting strategies, and the use of recycled materials. These efforts helped deliver a high‑performance, energy‑efficient recreation center that enhances student life while promoting long‑term environmental stewardship.
