BKF supported the Oakland Zoo Knowland Park project with a comprehensive aerial mapping and survey effort designed to deliver precise site data for effective planning and design. Our team coordinated closely with an aerial mapping consultant to complete detailed LiDAR mapping of the site, ensuring high-resolution topographic information that informed key project decisions.
To establish accurate survey control across the site, BKF set aerial control panels and performed GPS observations that tied all elevation data to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). This level of precision ensured consistent and reliable vertical measurements throughout the project area.
BKF also established horizontal control using the California State Plane Coordinate System, Zone III, providing a stable and unified framework for all mapping and design activities. By delivering dependable, high-quality survey data, our team helped create a strong technical foundation for planning, design, and future development within Knowland Park and the Oakland Zoo campus.
