BKF Engineers teamed with HPI Architecture to provide Civil Engineering and Land Surveying services supporting the development of the College’s student housing dormitory at the main SRJC campus in Santa Rosa. The student housing project is an impressive 5-story, 93,000 square foot and 500+ bed facility with on-site amenities including shared kitchens, grab-and-go café, an outdoor community garden, expansive bike storage enclosure, and outdoor gathering areas.
BKF provided services related to topographic and ALTA surveying, easement and lot merger support, grading and drainage design, stormwater low impact development, as well as new sewer, water, and storm drain service connections.
The project also included improvement along both of the site’s public frontages as well as improvements within the main campus parking lot to provide a well-defined pedestrian access route and secondary fire access lane to the dormitory. The project required extensive and creative coordination with the City of Santa Rosa and the designers of a future pedestrian and bike overcrossing. This new overcrossing will be constructed on the northern edge of the site, requiring our team to develop a parking layout design to meet the parking demands of the project while provisioning for the future bridge improvements.
