BKF partnered with the City of Downey to evaluate and improve critical infrastructure across five community parks: Apollo Park, Dennis the Menace Park, Golden Park, Rio San Gabriel Park, and the San Gabriel River and Wilderness Park. These improvements help ensure that local parks continue to serve residents safely, comfortably, and sustainably for years to come.
BKF delivered services in two phases that included grading work, ADA accessibility upgrades, parking lot improvements, new restrooms, and shade structures throughout the park system. Project highlights included the reconstruction of the community building at Dennis the Menace Park, installation of a new pedestrian bridge at Wilderness Park, new picnic shelters at Rio San Gabriel Park, and development of a multi‑age fitness area with rubberized surfacing. Additional upgrades included athletic field regrading, new irrigation systems with synthetic turf, and the installation of aeration and water‑circulation systems to enhance long‑term park maintenance and performance.
