Tom spent summers through high school and college in Florida working construction. Attending the University of Vermont, he started his college education on a mechanical engineering track. However, when it came time to meet with an advisor to discuss direction and review upcoming classes, his mechanical engineering advisor was unavailable and a civil engineering advisor was, so voila! For the better, civil engineering became his focus.

Eventually moving to California, he joined BKF’s Redwood City office in 1995 and leads a team that focuses on private land development for commercial and residential clients. “My favorite clients appreciate the knowledge and experience my team can bring to a project to help guide a project through what can be a complicated entitlement, design and construction process,” he said. “We can work collaboratively to find the right solutions.”

Over the length of his career, he has had the opportunity to work on many exciting and challenging projects. Since 2011, he has been involved with the Treasure Island redevelopment. “Being involved with such a marquis project in the Bay Area has been very rewarding. I appreciate being able to help my client make this a successful project and being able to work on a project that is recognizable almost anywhere in the country.”

“I am fortunate to work for a company large enough that the right resources are available to my team to support our client’s efforts, yet small enough to be family.”
