Jon was born and raised in Fresno and it was his dad’s career as a mechanical engineer which helped guide him into the field of engineering. He graduated from Fresno State in December 2009, with what would become the basis of his career – civil engineering and geomatics engineering degrees. Jon first learned of BKF in 2010 while working on a construction staking estimate for a project at the Palo Alto Campus of Veteran’s Affairs. Ironically, after joining BKF’s Sacramento office as a project engineer in late 2011, his first several years at the firm were filled with over 20 projects at the Palo Alto Campus of the VA.
Jon has worked on a wide spectrum of projects during his career at BKF; state and federal government, public schools, healthcare, condominiums, commercial developments and municipal street projects. He enjoys consulting clients on their options for development and partnering with them to see their project dreams become a reality. In 2015, Jon facilitated the creation of the BKF Sacramento survey team which allows the firm to service clients in central California and as far north as the Oregon state line.
Jon has the unique capability to serve clients both as an engineer and as a surveyor. This uniqueness allows Jon to provide a beginning-to-end service to clients; starting with initial mapping, followed by engineering design, and concluding with construction surveying services. “Every project has a story to tell; every project is a personal relationship held near and dear.”
When Jon isn’t working, you can find him being a family man. He and his wife, Liz, live in Elk Grove, with son, Nathaniel, and daughter, Abigail. His evenings are spent reading to his young kids, playing catch with his son, and going to the local parks for walks and hikes. Jon especially loves taking his children fishing. “There’s no greater joy on my kid’s face when we catch a fish.” When not reading, fishing or taking family hikes, Jon and his wife enjoy watching football and attending football games.
