Greg was raised in Petaluma, and upon graduating from college he returned home to the North Bay and began working for a civil and land surveying firm very similar to BKF, but much smaller. Passionate about community involvement, he became active in many local organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the Active 20-30 Club No. 50, North Coast Builders Exchange and the California Building Industry Association.

Throughout his career, he has participated and managed a variety of diverse civil engineering and land surveying projects for both public and private clients including commercial and industrial developments, winery facilities, residential and multi-family developments, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, mixed-use developments, hospitality and public works facilities. “My very favorite projects are the ones which benefit the local communities the most,” he said. “I also like getting involved in complicated projects and I feel especially satisfied when owners and agencies have confidence in and respect the work I do.”

Prior to his promotion to BKF President and Chief Executive Officer, Greg was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Santa Rosa office. In 2020, Hurd became the fifth President in the firm’s history. “I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead this exceptional organization of creative, dedicated, and talented professionals,” he said.
