Chuck Humpal would eventually like to travel “off the beaten path” with his wife and dogs and spend time touring every state in the lower 48, in a custom Mercedes van. His goal would be to take the backroads and see the real USA, not just the tourist attractions, and not be limited to a specific timeframe. “I’d love to set our own pace and take our time, rather than just blowing through,” he said.
An experienced engineer with a variety of land development project work on his resume, Chuck leads a team in BKF’s Redwood City office. He joined the firm back in 1995, and has enjoyed growing his career, as BKF also grew. “What I appreciate about working here is that the leadership is willing to allow people to extend beyond their comfort zone, and encourages them to succeed by taking on new challenges.”
While Chuck has worked on a great number of large, marquee projects in the Bay Area throughout his career, he also enjoys working collaboratively with his younger staff on smaller efforts. He says that the smaller projects allow him to mentor more effectively and afford him the opportunity to “show the younger engineers the big picture without overwhelming them.”
