Nicknamed BKF’s specialty “on-call-ogist” because of his extensive involvement with on-call survey work for public agencies, Ben was originally lured into this profession by the promise of outdoor adventure and the use of high-tech gadgets, gears, and geomatics applications. He is the youngest in a brood of nine and grew up in Angeles City, Philippines. He received a bachelor’s degree in Geodetic Engineering from the University of the Philippines, Diliman in 2001. In 2015, he passed the California PLS exam and joined BKF’s staff a year later.

Ben is a self-proclaimed guru in subsurface utility mapping and a GIS specialist. He enjoys working on miles of street topographic surveys for pipeline replacement projects, and preparing base maps for district-wide development. He feels strongly about helping cities and agencies to serve and protect the public by delivering high quality surveying services and mapping products. But beyond that, with his “attitude of gratitude”, he would also eventually like to leave a legacy as “one of the guys who valued integrity and relationships more than just the numbers, and treated his colleagues and clients with care.”

Married to his college sweetheart who is also a surveying professional, Ben and his wife, Cheryl, stay busy chasing their three young kids; Sebastian, Stephen, and Sienna. On the weekends, he can be found playing the bass guitar with his cover band, serving at church, riding his road bike, playing ping-pong, and chess. He is also a force to be reckoned with on the BKF basketball and volleyball teams. If Ben could be a superhero for a day, he’d choose to be Superman; which would conveniently allow him to complete aerial surveys by flying overhead and perform underground utility locating easily with his X-ray vision.
