A San Jose office associate specializing in utility design for complex transportation projects, Andrew has worked for BKF for over two decades. He has been an integral part of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s (VTA) team for its BART to San Jose project (aka BART Silicon Valley). “BKF’s utility design and right of way work is pretty significant to this project,” he said. “One of the most challenging aspects has been managing high risk issues to avoid potential construction impacts and delays.”

Andrew also serves as the company’s Caltrans Bay Area District 4 Utility Coordinator for the State Highway System, which includes processing and coordinating of utility agreements, verification, replacement right-of-way, report of investigations, and determination of liability for large highway projects.

What he appreciates most about working for BKF is the shared mentality that the client comes first. “Doing what is right for our clients using sound engineering practices to complete tasks should be our priority, regardless of whether or not our client anticipated the results,” he said. “Shortcuts and subpar engineering does not earn us the return business we seek.”

Andrew’s goals for the future include trying to maintain a healthy balance of life and work activities, and finding enjoyment in each. “I care a lot about BKF doing right by our clients, just as I care about my family and friends.” He says his life activities outside of work fuel his work ethic and re-energize him to work hard for his clients.
