Residential Project Experience
BKF has been involved in the base closure and re-use of Treasure Island for the past 8 years assisting the Development Team and City with planning and coordination of project infrastructure. Our efforts have included the review of the existing infrastructure systems, site planning assistance, conceptual utility designs, and preliminary construction cost estimates for the redevelopment project. We have worked closely with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and Department of Public Works to develop project standards and designs for street layout, storm drain, potable water, recycled water, sanitary sewer, street and storm water quality designs.
100 Van Ness is a 399 unit apartment community in San Francisco’s “mid-Market” neighborhood. The 29 story tower is a complete renovation of an existing office building.

BKF provided design and survey services for this award winning, LEED Platinum certified apartment complex built on the former U.S. Navy Fleet Industrial Supply Center. It serves low-income households, with priority given to veterans. All units are universally designed for accessibility and sustainability.
BKF assisted the University of California (UC) Berkeley with its Albany Village design-build infrastructure project. Construction consisted of 582-units of new student housing, including replacement of all roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
Logan Place Apartment Project is an affordable apartment, located along Petaluma Boulevard North in Petaluma.
BKF is providing civil engineering services for the $1.2 billion Parkmerced redevelopment project to transform the community into a more pedestrian-oriented neighborhood with transit Muni stops at the heart of the future Parkmerced, parks, and retail. Parkmerced is being designed as a resident-oriented community that will implement the most advanced techniques in combating climate change and providing innovative transportation strategies.
The Fife Creek Commons provides affordable housing opportunities for low-income families. Since Guerneville has a history of habitual flooding, Fife Creek Commons was designed so all the units are on an elevated platform above the 100-year base flood elevation, or 15 feet above the ground.
Main Street Village provides much needed supportive housing for the community in an environmentally friendly fashion. Integrated into the large complex are numerous green building features, including bay-friendly landscaping, storm water treatment systems, a solar thermal system, photovoltaic panels, energy-efficient electrical/plumbing fixtures, and on-demand hot water heaters in every unit. BKF provided civil and survey services from entitlements through project completion.
BKF provided civil engineering services for the development of the Infinity Towers project which includes two high-rise towers (of 37 and 42 stories) and two mid-rise buildings.
