Vasona Light Rail – Diridon Tunnel

BKF Engineers provided preliminary, final design and construction support services for a 0.3 mile LRT tunnel segment of light rail in San Jose.
Project Unique Features:
- Located beneath the Diridon Station.
- Creates a unified, multi-model transit station providing Caltrain Rail Services, Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), Capitol Corridor Commuter Rail, VTA Bus Services, San Jose Taxi services, and parking facilities for Silicon Valley commuters.
- A system of wick drains, subterranean drainage galleries, and pumping stations, combined with soil surcharging, was designed and constructed to accelerate settlement.
